This year had its fair share of challenges and plenty of successes to celebrate. In our annual roundup, we reflect on how we’ve worked together with you, our customers, to get through. We’re also looking forward to 2024 and the opportunities that lie ahead.
Thank you to all of our customers
We all had a huge challenge to face this year and we certainly faced it together. Being part of our community and dealing with the impact of Cyclone Gabrielle has been a big part of our 2023.
We thank all of our customers for their support, for working with us, and for choosing us. We could not have grown and strengthened our business to support our Hawke’s Bay building and roading communities without your help.
Our 2023 in review
Growing our team in 2023
We put service first in everything we do and that means we always look carefully for the right people when we’re growing our team. Whoever we bring on board needs to be able to share our values and be willing to go the extra mile.
In 2023 we were happy to welcome Colwyn and Teale to the Allways Hire team. Colwyn joined in May taking on yard operations and the role of workshop assistant while you’ll find Teale, who joined in January, assisting Brianna with the accounts.
A new look for the Allways Hire brand
Remember what we used to look like? We launched a new look for our logo and brand in May 2023 and we’ve enjoyed getting positive feedback as it’s been rolled out across both our branches.

The official launch of the Master Hydro Vacuum Excavator
In April 2023 we officially announced the launch of the Master Hydro Vacuum Excavator. This machine is the first of its kind in New Zealand and more than proved its worth when it took on an unplanned role, removing silt as part of the Cyclone Gabrielle clean up.
Like all of our Master Equipment, the development of this machine involved months of trial and feedback from our customers – who we thank for helping us. Now available to hire, own or long term lease: the Master Hydro Vacuum Excavator is proving a popular choice for precision digging jobs for a wide range of industries.

The Master Hydro Vacuum Excavator is available to hire from both our Napier and Hastings branches.
Our fleet grows from strength to strength
During 2023 our hire equipment fleet has increased in size by over 40%, to meet the needs of our Hawke’s Bay utility, roading and construction industries. We’re focused on having the best machines available whenever you need them.
We’re not just about quantity – we’re also all about quality. That’s why we’re quick to bring in a new piece of kit if we think it’ll make the job easier. We’ve added new Dumpers, a new Skid Steer, a range of water pumps and more over the last 12 months.
We’ve also been busy building a reputation as the place to come for all your digger hire needs. 2023 has seen us increase our digger numbers by over 40%. We now offer 10 different sizes of digger and a huge range of attachments that will help you get the job done. If you haven’t already tried it we recommend giving the 2T Yanmar Excavator a go – it’s been so popular since we brought it into our fleet in July 2021 that we’ve grown the number available to hire.
Looking for the latest additions that are available to hire? You can keep track of our new arrivals on our website.

Working together in the Cyclone clean-up
Cyclone Gabrielle had a huge impact on Hawke’s Bay and it felt like everyone was impacted by the event or involved in the clean up. Our team worked hard to help with the clean up and we were glad to be able to help coordinate the massive influx of machinery into the Bay as we did all we could to support those affected.
10 months on and the clean up and rebuild effort is still going hard. We’re continuing to grow and adapt our fleet to make sure you have the equipment you need if you’re rebuilding roads, homes, or dealing with silt, dust or debris caused by this massive event.

Opening a new branch in Napier
The Cyclone also had a huge impact on our roading and the journey from Napier to Hastings became a real ‘road block’ for customers who wanted to quickly pick up a hire. In June we opened our Napier branch and our customers are enjoying the convenience of collecting equipment from there.
Have you had a chance to call into Napier and say hello? We’re at 30 Corunna Bay, Hospital Hill, Napier and we’re open Monday – Friday: 7am – 5pm.

Our Napier yard is proving popular with customers working on that side of Hawke’s Bay.
New transporters to give you more time on the job
Opening a new branch in Napier was only one part of the solution we put in place to make it easier to access hires across Hawke’s Bay. Our deliveries are still growing in number as they provide a great solution to access equipment without downtime.
That’s why we added two new transporters to our fleet in April. Growing our transporter fleet makes it possible to keep up with the demand for deliveries.

Our transporters deliver equipment direct to your work site, saving you time on the job.
Looking forward to 2024
Taking on your TREC needs
We’re seeing a busy year ahead in 2024 as the Hawke’s Bay region continues to grow and the Transport Rebuild East Coast (TREC) gathers momentum. We know that this alliance includes compliance requirements and we’re working with you to make sure you have the equipment you need to get the job done.
Grow, grow, grow
We’re all about new equipment, great availability and technology that makes a hard job easier. That means in 2024 you can expect us to keep growing our fleet – to make sure you can hire when you want to.
We’ll keep you up to date as we add new equipment, by emails and on social media. If you have a piece of kit you’d like to see us offer, remember our team is ready to hear your ideas. Just email Oakley at marketing@allwayshire.co.nz.
Hire…ready when you need it
We’ve coined the phrase “Hire Ready” that means fully-serviced and ready to drive off the lot when you need it. Our focus is on making sure you never need to wait around in our yard for your equipment to be ready. From Water Carts that come ready-filled to bespoke trailers and reliability you can plan your job by: we’re determined to make sure that hire ready is what we do better than anyone else.
In 2024 we’ll continue to focus on ways we can make your hire easier, including more work on streamlining our processes. We’re reaching the final stages of our paperless rollout and we’re making sure it’s a positive experience for you, our customers, along the way.
Continuing to innovate with Master Equipment
Master Equipment is known for providing smart solutions to our customers’ problems. We’ve been applying our innovative solutions to water storage and movement, and we’re looking forward to rolling out new add-ons for our Water Carts in 2024.
As well as a wide range of sizes for the Master Water Carts, and easy transportation, 2024 should give you access to better dust suppression tools, the already launched water jetter on a trailer, and the new Hydro Seeder capability – where you can spray large areas of land with seeded material to encourage regrowth – particularly useful after slips, storm damage or soil erosion.
If you’re interested in any of these innovations, or you want to talk about hiring with Allways Hire or buying from Master Equipment – you can get in touch with Jeremy at jeremy@allwayshire.co.nz.
