Allways Hire - Your time matters - so how do we give you more of it

If you’re ready to get out and work; you don’t want to get held up picking up your equipment or filling in paperwork. The team at Allways Hire have looked at every stage of the hire process and tried to put steps in place to make it as quick and easy as possible for you. And we’re still challenging ourselves to find more improvements every day.

That means less time picking up our equipment and more time using it to grow your business. We asked our team of equipment hire experts to share their tips for how to enjoy a more efficient hire in Hawke’s Bay.

Pre-booking your hire means a speedier pick up

Hiring in advance helps you to organise all the equipment you need for the job.

Hiring in advance helps you to organise all the equipment you need for the job.

Jeremy Smith is in charge of Business Development at Allways Hire. While he knows that many customers enjoy the flexibility of a last minute pick up – he likes to remind customers they can save a heap of time if they book equipment in advance.

“When you book your hire in advance, we can make sure your machine is ready to go and all the paperwork is ready. If you need a piece of equipment to go with the machine, we can have that ready to go too. That means all you need to do is sign on the dotted line and go. “

How do you get the machine you want, when you want it?

Paperless processing of your booking makes it easy to pick up your machine with the minimum of downtime.

No one wants their job to be delayed just because the right piece of equipment isn’t available to hire. While Allways Hire has a lot of depth to the fleet to ensure availability, Evan Groundwater (who coordinates hire pick ups) recommends booking your hire 2 to 7 days ahead so it’s more likely to be available just when you need it.

“Book with us between 2 days and a week before you need it. It ensures you’ll get the right machine, at the right time when your job is about to start.”

Save time on your job with a transporter delivery

Using the Allways Hire pick up and drop off service means the transporter does the hard work while you and your team can get on with the job.

Using the Allways Hire pick up and drop off service means the transporter does the hard work while you and your team can get on with the job.

Depending on the equipment you’re hiring and the place you’re working in – you may find it saves you time and money to book a transporter to deliver and pick up your hire equipment. Delivery can be more efficient and convenient – especially if you don’t have the correct transportation to move heavy equipment from one place to another.

If you are booking a delivery – it pays to be clear where you want it to go. Hamish Alexander is Allways Hire’s Heavy Transport Operator, a Mechanic and an Engineer. His time delivering equipment to Allways Hire customers has given him a lot of insight into the challenges that can slow up a delivery.

“If you want to speed up your equipment delivery, my tip is to give really clear delivery instructions. The more detailed the information you give to us, the smaller the chance we’re going to get delayed trying to find the right drop off spot. Especially if you’re on a large site or a long stretch of road.

Also bear in mind that there’s a big truck delivering your equipment and dropping off its load. We’ll need to turn to get back on the road again and if you plan that in advance it will make your drop off and pick up a whole lot smoother.”

Do you need heavy equipment delivered to your site? Contact the team at Allways Hire today and find out more about our delivery services.

Do you want to hire one piece of equipment or might you actually need lots?

The range of attachments available to hire means you can access specialised equipment and deliver better results, more efficiently.

David Smith is involved in the development of the Master Machinery range at Allways Hire. His top tip for a more efficient hire is to remember to consider all angles and plan everything you might need to book your hire.

“Some machines require special attachments depending on what you want to get done. You might also need to hire Water Carts if you need to wash down or hire a Master Sweeper to keep dust levels under control. Knowing you’ve got the right piece of equipment to get the job done simply adds up to a more efficient hire experience.”

Don’t forget to get your pick up details right at the end of your hire

Hugo Smith looks after General Maintenance and Yard Co-ordination at Allways Hire. He has noted that organising the right drop off location is often a priority but the detail about the pick up location often gets forgotten.

“Ensuring that the truck comes to the right place first time can avoid a lot of downtime. It needs to come to where the equipment is and it needs enough space to turn. I recommend you increase the efficiency of your hire by having a pre-arranged Key Location when you arrange pick up of your hire equipment at the end of your hire.

If you have a digger with more than one bucket – gathering them together before collection saves time and avoids the cost of delays as well.”

Everything’s quicker with access to an expert – whenever you need it

Not much slows you down like discovering you’ve got the wrong equipment on the job. Simon Smith helps to coordinate equipment hires at Allways Hire. He suggests that the most efficient hire starts with the right piece of kit. If you’re not sure, he recommends asking the Allways Hire team of experts.

“If you’re not sure of the equipment for the job you’re trying to do – talk to us. We can recommend the tools and talk you through the capabilities of the machines we have available. That makes your hire more efficient as you can be sure you’ve got the right tools for the job.”

Take the time to get your weekend jobs done right

If you’ve got weekend plans, you could find that hiring a machine can make a tough job a lot easier. Especially if you’d like to spread your work out over the whole weekend. Oakley Smith is in charge of Marketing at Allways Hire. He’s keen to share a tip that gives DIY’ers the opportunity to get more value from their weekend hires.

“My tip to those of you who are into DIY is a way to make your weekend hire more efficient and flexible. Did you know that even if you hire the machine for the whole weekend, as long as you don’t put more than 8 hours on the clock you will only get charged for one day, not two days?”
