The wet weather gear you need to hire when the water levels rise

The Master Sweeper is a great way to keep your neighbours happy and the roads clean.

There’s wet and then there’s really wet. And when the water levels start to rise, it’s important to know what equipment is available to prevent damage and keep your worksite safe. Allways Hire has a range of equipment that’s been selected to help you keep down the water levels even when the weather has other plans. In this blog we’ll take a look at what’s available and how it could make a difference to you.

Lower your water levels with a Flexi Drive Pump

Allways hire - flexi drive pump - available to hire from Napier and Hastings branches

The Flexi Drive Pump is a great tool for keeping water levels down wherever it starts to pool, especially below ground level.

We have a selection of water pumps available for hire from either our Hastings or Napier branches. The benefit of a water pump is that it moves water that you don’t want, to somewhere where it can’t do damage – or isn’t in the way. This can make a big difference to your schedule if you’re digging or working below ground level, or be an effective way to protect a flood prone area from damage.

The Flexi Drive Pump from Kato has a heap of advantages that recommend it for the job. It can deal with dirty water and high levels of solids – up to 20mm solids and up to 60% solids in fluid – making it adaptable to a wide range of flooding situations. It also has the benefit of not needing to be primed before use – simply submerge the pump head in water and it can get to work straight away.

Don’t let wet weather slow you down – with a Dumper

Dumpers are more adaptable to wet weather as they’re designed to work off road in rugged conditions.

Once the ground gets wet it can really slow progress on the job. Especially if you’re trying to move heavy loads on uneven surfaces. Dumpers have earned their reputation for being better on an incline, on uneven surfaces, and in the wet.  The 1.5T to 3T dumpers come on their own trailer for easy towing to and from your worksite.

Keep the mess to a minimum with a Master Sweeper

The Master Sweeper is a great way to keep your neighbours happy and the roads clean.

The Master Sweeper is a great way to keep your neighbours happy and the roads clean.

The Master Sweeper is our hero when it comes to cleaning up. With a wide range of features designed to keep dust down, it’s got everything it needs to sweep up in the dry: but have you considered what a great job it can do in the wet as well?

When the rain comes down hard, heavy machines rolling into and out of your worksite or yards can track a heap of mud and dirt with them. If keeping your access roads or yards clean is a priority – along with keeping your neighbours happy – then it can be good to keep the Master Sweeper on hand.

Other machines you might like to hire in the Hawke’s Bay wet

High volumes of water can completely change which machine is right for the job you have on hand. If you’re not sure if another make or model could do the job better: ask our team. We understand the strengths of all of our hire equipment and are happy to recommend the right hire to help you do the best job possible – in the wet or dry.

If the rain’s falling heavily and you’re concerned about the impact on your job, you could consider these other options:

Our wide range of diggers gives you the ability to adapt to the conditions and the space you’re working in. If you need a lighter digger for a lower impact, or you need to dig ditches and get water moving fast: we’ve got the right digger (and attachments) for you. Take a look at our full range of diggers here.

On a muddy roading or building site, a Loader can help you move material efficiently and quickly without needing to risk getting a truck stuck. With Loaders available on wheels and tracks, you can be sure we’ve got the right machine to hire for the job on hand. Take a look at our full range of loaders here.
