A focus on the Master Hydro Vacuum Excavator

You may have seen our Master Hydro Vacuum Excavator out and about in Hawke’s Bay – but do you know what it can do? In this article we take a look at the Master Hydro Vacuum Excavator and explore what it does, who can use it, where it can work, and where it’s available to hire.

Our Master Hydro Vacuum Excavator gets called lots of names by our customers. If you’ve heard someone talking about the Sucker Truck or Vac Truck and wondered what it is: you’ve come to the right place. Read on to find out what it is and what it can do.

What is Hydro Excavation?

Hydro Excavation is the process of excavating or digging by blasting the area to be excavated with high pressure water that is then sucked into a collecting tank.

How does Hydro Excavation work?

Hydro excavation uses highly pressurised water to dig by loosening particles in the soil.

Hydro Excavation works by using highly pressurised water to loosen the particles in soil or dirt so that they can be vacuum sucked out of the way – creating a hole. Hydro Excavation has the benefit of being very precise and very low impact.

What that means is that if you need to dig a narrow hole – for example for a foundation pile or fence post, or to reach a leaking pipe – you can dig a hole that’s only as big as you need it to be. Hydro Excavation is low impact because water can be used to excavate around utilities without causing damage – which is especially useful on properties where pipe locations may be unknown.

What’s vacuum excavation great for? You can put a hydro vacuum excavator to work wherever you need a non destructive digging solution: including for jobs that require pot-holing, trenching or daylighting.

Why and when do I need to use a Hydro Excavator?

Hydro Excavation is a quick and effective way to excavate and reduce the risk of damage. You can minimise disruption by only removing a minimal quantity of dirt, reducing damage to the surrounding area. Hydro Excavation is also effective in unstable soils that may risk collapse with traditional forms of excavation.

You need to use Hydro Excavation if you’re unsure of the location of utilities or pipes in the area where you’re digging. The Master Hydro Excavator is also perfect for harder to reach areas, with extension hoses that make it easier to work in hard-to-access places or with restricted access like under and around or behind houses or buildings. The vac truck is also great for sucking out sump pits that are blocked.

The Master Hydro Excavator has also proved to be a valuable tool in the clean up after Cyclone Gabrielle. The Hydro Excavator has a built-in water blaster with its own water tank, making it possible to wash down and suck dirt out of flood damaged buildings, entranceways and more.

Do you want to dig without risking damage to underground services? A hydro excavator is a quick and effective way to excavate safely.
