The Master Grader is one of the most popular pieces of equipment in the Master Machinery fleet. Available to hire across New Zealand with Allways Hire or purchase through Master Machinery across the country, it’s a small machine that’s packed full of great features.
Want the best tractor grader on the market?
There are 3 simple elements that set the Master Grader apart from the competition. The evolution of the design of the Master Grader has been focused on delivering a high performing piece of machinery that’s easy to operate. The design team also needed to fix the issues that other mid-mount graders in the market struggle with. The result is these 3 key features.
1. A strong mid-mounted blade that doesn’t break
According to David Smith, Head of Product Development at Master Machinery, there was a real problem with other mid-mounted graders on the market – before the Master Grader arrived on the scene.
David consistently got feedback from his customers that “the mid-mounted blade on other graders was not strong enough and broke the main pivot pin”. In designing the Master Grader it was clear the blade needed to be strong enough to overcome this issue. So that’s what the team at Master Machinery delivered.
2. A system of levers that make it easy to adjust the blade
Master Machinery is focused on overcoming challenges that exist with other machines in the market. A common problem is needing a high level of experience to get the best results when operating a machine.
Experienced staff aren’t always available, so it’s important to make controls intuitive and easy to learn. That’s exactly what the design team did with the Master Grader. They addressed the challenge of how hard it was to correctly adjust the blade using only two levers – the set up of other graders in the market. David explains the solution,
“For easier height adjustment we added an additional lever that adjusts both left and right lift rams of the blade together. That’s much easier to use while you’re operating the grader and it’s also more straightforward for new operators who don’t have as much experience.”
3. A better blade angle of 33 degrees
When you’re grading; it’s important that the blade is angled correctly so all the material moves exactly as you want it to. Too little angle and the material will spill out the side of the blade.
Based on customer feedback and research, the blade of the Master Grader has been angled at 33 degrees. Feedback from customers has confirmed that this is a better angle to move material exactly how you want to – with minimal to no spill or overflow.
It all adds up to a better Grader
Josh Taylor from JT Contracting in Gisborne is a roading subcontractor specialising in stabilising cement. He’s been using the Master Grader for a while now and says it’s a welcome addition to the tools of his trade.
“I like that it has heaps of grunt and it’s not shy at pushing loads. The Master Grader is fitting for our business because it really is just a smaller version of a big one. It’s easy to function and easy to use. I definitely recommend Master Machinery. The ideas you’re creating to develop these machines are beneficial for us – it helps us do business which is great.”
It’s great to see that Master Grader is so well received. Customers describe the Master Grader as “a great little grader, with easy-to-use controls,” and say it has “great turning circle and agility”.
The Master Grader definitely has the power its operators need, with another customer saying “the 2 wheel drive with water-filled tyres is plenty enough weight and traction for pushing around loose material prepping driveways/car parks”.
